Early Childhood Educators

Early Childhood Educators are professionals working within the social sector. Early Childhood Educators provide care and support to encourage children’s development in relation and cooperation with the child’s parents and/or environment (education, prevention, coordination). The tasks that early childhood professionals are expected to carry out (as well as the skills required to do so) are constantly evolving due to changing national and local policy, as well as social developments.

The CRFPE, approved by the Regional Directorate of Youth, Sports and Social Cohesion (DRJSCS), has been training Early Childhood Educators for a number of years. Training offered prepares candidates for the degree-level National Diploma in Early Childhood Education (initial training (subsidized by the Hauts de France Regional Council ), continuous training, accreditation of prior and experiential learning). On the strength of this experience and in accordance with current legislation, our team of trainers designs and develops an educational project, taking account of current debates, changes in society and the social sector. Unique to the CRFPE, this educational project is based on humanistic values (respecting the individual, non-discrimination, recognizing potential for development) and offers professional work-study or sandwich courses (alternating theory and practical training). Our ambition is to train welfare practitioners working specifically with young children, and accompany the construction of their professional identity.

Course timeframe

The Early Childhood Educator course takes 3 years to complete, it is structured around two fundamental educational principles:

  • Combining study and workplace integration by alternating periods of theory-based and practical training (work placement) relating particularly to the (complex) interactions and links present throughout all areas and stages of the course.
  • Interprofessionalism in order to facilitate working in partnership to help meet the needs of people with difficulties
